Prelepo letno gledališče »Pod goroj«, kot domačini imenujejo pas pod obronki Pohorja, se nahaja v senci mogočnih smrek in je edinstveno v Sloveniji. Je amfiteatralne oblike, z 800–1000 sedeži in je izredno akustično. Zgrajeno je bilo leta 1931 na pobudo domačina Vekoslava Janka, sicer prvaka Ljubljanske opere. Že leto kasneje so tu uprizorili prvo predstavo, Finžgarjevo igro Divji lovec. Letne gledališke igre so iz leta v leto privabljale gledalce in polnile kamniti amfiteater. Za Mariborčane so k vsaki predstavi organizirali poseben vlak. Rekorden obisk sta doživeli igri Miklova Zala (1938) in Matija Gubec (1940), saj si ju je ogledalo preko 6000 gledalcev. Naravno okolje ruškega letnega gledališča je še danes skoraj neokrnjeno, manjkajo le posamezna drevesa, med njimi tudi velikanska lipa, nekdanji simbol ljudskih iger. Ostala pa sta skromna kapelica in »knežji kamen«, ki sta v letih 1933 in 1938 predstavljala kulisi za izvedbo Jurčičevih Rokovnjačev in Sketove Miklove Zale. Prvotno gledališko dejavnost z več kot tričetrtstoletno tradicijo uprizarjanja galedaliških iger danes dopolnjujejo komedije ter glasbene, plesne in otroške prireditve, ki potekajo konec avgusta v okviru festivala Letni oder Ruše.

The beautiful summer theater “Pod goroj” (Below the mountain), as the locals call the area below the slopes of the Pohorje hills, is situated in the shade of mighty spruce trees and is unique in Slovenia. It has an amphitheatric shape, it holds 800-1000 seats and it is very acoustic. It was built in 1931 at the incentive of a local, Vekoslav Janko, who was at that time the leading voice of the Ljubljana Opera House. The following year the first play was performed here – Divji lovec (Poacher) by Fran Saleški Finžgar. Summer theater plays started filling up the stone amphitheater by attracting a bigger audience each year. For the citizens of Maribor a special train was organized to take them to see each play. Two plays, Miklova Zala (1938) and Matija Gubec (1940) broke the record, because over 6000 people saw them on stage. The natural surroundings of the summer theater in Ruše remain almost intact until this day, the only part that is missing are some individual trees, among them a giant linden tree which used to be a symbol of folk plays. What remains is a small chapel and the “prince’s stone” which were parts of the stage scenery in the years 1933 and 1938 in the play by Josip Jurčič titled Rokovnjači (Bandits) and a play by Jakob Sket titled Miklova Zala. The original theatrical activity with a more-than-75-year tradition of staging theatrical plays is today complemented by comedies and musical, dance and children events, which take place at the end of August at the Letni oder Ruše festival (The Summer Stage Ruše festival).

Das schöne Sommertheater „Pod goroj“, das von den Einheimischen nach einem Teil im Vorland des Pohorje-Gebirges genannt wurde, liegt im Schatten mächtiger Fichten und ist einzigartig in Slowenien. In Form eines Amphitheaters mit 800-1000 Plätzen ist das Theater auβerordentlich akustisch. Es wurde 1931 erbaut und von einem Einheimischen Vekoslav Janko initiiert, der auch der Star im Opernhaus in Ljubljana war. Schon ein Jahr später wurde hier das erste Stück aufgeführt „Divji lovec“ von Finžgar. Sommertheaterspiele besuchten von Jahr zu Jahr viele Zuschauer, so dass das Steinamphitheater voll war. Die Einwohner von Maribor organisierten bei jeder Aufführung einen besonderen Zug. Der Rekordbesuch mit mehr als 6000 Zuschauern hatten die Aufführungen „Miklova Zala“ (1938) und „Matija Gubec (1940). Der Naturumwelt des Sommertheaters in Ruše ist heute fast unversehrt. Es fehlen nur einige Bäume, so wie auch riesiger Lindenbaum, das ehemalige Symbol der Volksspiele. Nur die bescheidende Kapelle und „der Fürstenstein“ blieben übrig, die in den Jahren 1933 und 1938 als Kulisse für die Aufführungen von „Miklova Zala“ von Sket und „Rokovnjači“ von Jurčič dienten. Die ursprüngliche Theatertätigkeit mit der Tradition seit mehr als einem dreiviertel Jahrhundert von Aufführungen der Theaterspiele, ergänzen heute Komödien, Musik- , Tanz- und Kindervorstellungen, die Ende August im Rahmen des Festivals „Letni oder“ in Ruše verlaufen.
